Firing Up the Email Newsletter

Todo List.jpg

I know.  Email and newsletter are a bit contradictory.  Anyhoo…

Welcome.  Over the past few weeks a number of people have helped me to collect email addresses and contact information of folks connected with the Poynette Curling Club.  I have around 130 people so far.  I’m beginning to add everybody I have to a larger email distribution list that will allow us to better push information to those folks interested in curling here in Poynette, Wisconsin.

Once I get the distribution list built and any details ironed out I’ll begin putting a simple set of instructions out to folks on how to send to the list, remove yourself from the list, change your information, etc.  If you have questions, please feel free to give me a yell at ijohnpederson@gmail.com.

Thanks.  Good curling!  (The ice starts going in this evening!)

Club Cleanup Day – Saturday, August 21, 2010

Bar Thinks They Have Curling Figured Out | The Onion - America_s Finest News Source.jpgWe had a very successful spring league and spring bonspiel with the ice shut off June 1. This summer a number of projects have been worked on. The basement has been tiled and for the first time in years it is dry, but work continues on the clean up and painting there. The lobby floor has received a coat of epoxy paint and looks great. The north end in the ice area has had the mold cleaned and a fresh coat of paint

We now are making plans for fall ice and we need your help for a major clean-up work day!

There is clean up and work that needs to be done in the ice area, the kitchen, the lobby, the bathrooms, and the club room.  This is both men’s and women’s work day starting at 8:00 am Saturday, Aug 21, 2010.

Please call (635-2197) or email (teeter034@centurytel.net) Dean Teeter if you are coming,  we need your help!

Welcome to the Poynette Curling Club Website!

Culing Stone SmallCurling is a rapidly growing sport in the United States and around the world. The sport has gained a significant following during the past two Winter Olympic Games, leading television ratings for all Winter Olympic sports. In February 2006, the US Curling Association web site received 100 million hits, with a record 12.5 million on February 16. Curling was the third-most searched topic on search engines during the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Contrast that popularity with curling in Poynette.   The Poynette Curling Club keeps the residents of Poynette, Wisconsin (population 2,266) busy during the winter months.  The tradition is believed to have started in our area during the 1840′s when local curlers used wooden curling blocks on the nearby Wisconsin River.

We’ve since moved indoors.

Curling is a great fall, winter, and spring activity that organizes communities in many ways.  More so than in many team sports, good sportsmanship is an integral part of curling.  The sport is equally strategic and social.  Everybody involved in the Poynette Curling Club welcomes newcomers to the game.  Contact any of the club members mentioned on this site if you are interested in trying curling.
